PLA believes that the introduction of new and advanced sustainable concepts and technologies offer designers unparalleled opportunities in creatively fusing the technical and performance-based advantages of these new systems with poetic and aesthetic possibilities. Our projects seek to find new ways of seamlessly integrating technology with new creative expressions for shaping built environments.
Since 2003, PLA has been actively engaged in creating sustainable environments. We had remarkable opportunities in China to design buildings that used but a fraction of energy normally consumed by similar sized buildings (Jindu Sustainable Pavilion). We also worked on large scale urban design plans (Shaoxing & Paojiang Two Lakes Master Plan). PLA was able to translate lessons learned in our work in Asia to the US market both in small scaled NZE projects like the Jenson-DeLeeuw Residence and large-scale Urban Next Zero Energy projects like the Hydroelectric Canal in Boston’s Columbia Point.
